It’s Foodie Friday! You will not believe how easy it is to make your own peanut butter! All it takes is a food processor and a few minutes. Since we can’t leave well enough alone, we added pumpkin pie spice to our peanut butter because why wouldn’t we? Peanut butter purists are welcome to leave the spice out, if desired. Plain or pumpkin spiced, we love to dip fresh and local Adams County apples in our peanut butter for a filling snack.
Pumpkin Spice Peanut Butter
16 oz roasted,unsalted peanuts
1/2 tsp kosher salt
2 tsp pumpkin pie spice (store bought or homemade, recipe follows)
Place peanuts in the bowl of your food processor and process, occasionally scraping down the sides with a spatula. Have faith. Peanuts will eventually be transformed into peanut butter without the addition of any other ingredients after processing for 3-4 minutes. Add salt and spice, process again to combine. Store in the refrigerator. Makes about 1 pint.
Pumpkin Pie Spice
2 Tbsp cinnamon
1 Tbsp ginger
1 tsp nutmeg
3/4 tsp ground cloves
Mix all pumpkin pie spice ingredients and store in a clean, dry jar.
